What is PAWS? Practice respect, Accept responsibility, Work honestly and Safety matters Who: A committee of concerned administrators, teachers, support staff and parents of students of the A A Gates Elementary School. "Statewide is a collaborative initiative supported by NYS Education Dept., NYS Mental Health and Families Together in NYS" The Purpose: To provide staff members with the ability to teach and promote good behavior of students and encourage families and school staff to work together for our students. How is this done? - Students were given a copy of Port Byron Model Conduct and Expectations and asked to have parents sign and return the document. This document was handed out in September.
- The Panther Paw states: Practice respect, Accept responsibility, Work honestly and Safety matters. (PAWS)
- Reinforce good behavior in classrooms, halls, and lunchroom – At the 6th Grade level students may receive PAWS Cards for good behavior. 6th Grade Teachers have classroom drawings.
- Award Celebrations once a marking period, students are acknowledged for 6th Grade Honor Roll.
PAWS is an on going commitment to help reduce problem behaviors and make our school a safe place to learn and grow.
